Windshield Wiper/Washer Questions 444-544

My car was originally equipped with windshield washers, but I believe I have the wrong dash switch; handle threads onto the switch stem, straight pull out from the dash, two positions (on & off), no wash position (that I've discovered yet), terminal numbers don't match those on the schematic. But I was able to hook up the 4 wires that run between the switch & the motor so that it operates (one speed)& parks. Are the wipers supposed to be one speed or two on a '65 model equipped with washers? How is the washer supposed to be energized - twist the handle? Is "wash" a momentary position? If I have the wrong switch, would anyone have a spare?

Thanks for your help & patience,

Joe in St Louis
