If it has an OD it is an M41.....
It is good that there are two of you. Tranny and OD probably weigh nearly 90#.
Putting it up and in is harder than taking it out (where gravity helps!)
Be sure and unhook ALL the wires and speedo cable before you pull it.
Also (of course) the gearshift lever.
You'll need an alignment tool when you put it back in to align the tranny mount bolt holes.
You'll need about a 1" piece of 3/8" allen wrench, a 3/8" socket and at least a foot of extensions.
More wiggle is better. If your motor mounts are good the engine will sit on the crossmember
without support, but you should use a jack to let it down easy, watching heater and radiator hoses,
also stoplight switch. I usually put the car on ramps so it is elevated at least 8" or more.
Put the tranny in neutral so you can get to all the front driveshaft flange bolts easily.
Unhook the rear of the driveshaft first and drop it, then the front and the center bearing mount.
You can move the whole thing back without disassembling it so you preserve shaft alignment.
If you DO take it apart be sure the yokes are lined up when you put it back together!
Remove the nut from the center tranny mount and then jack (I do it by the bellhousing bottom)
until the load is OFF the cross mount. Then you can unbolt the mount and let the tranny down.
After you do that you can reach the wires on the 4th gear switch on top of the lid, as well as
any others. By this point the speedo cable should be disconnected also.
Put an 11/16" open end wrench on the top starter nut to remove the bolt. Lean it against the body.
The others come normally.
Do you have an updated rear main seal housing? If not let me know ASAP (NLT early Wednesday).
Going back together is fairly straightforward. Be sure and align correctly.
Put the tranny in 4th gear so you can turn the input shaft to line up by the rear flange.
You'll probably need an alignment tool to line up the tranny mount bolts into the frame.
Line one up and tighten the bolt and then you can install the other one.
Having it jacked up a little extra high will help here.
Put the tranny in neutral so you can turn the driveshaft to line up the rear flange.
E-mail me directly if more questions (NLT Wednesday evening - I'm leaving.)
