If I were doing this in my garage, no problem with speed and accuracy. But, Riverbend offered his new toy, a lift! The only problem is that he doesn't have a tranny cradle that is 6+ feet high - shame on him :) And, I would like to drive back home the same day.
I had thought that we could remove the prop shaft, replace a couple of UJ's and the center carrier while up in the air, then lower the car to remove the tranny to replace the leaky RMS. Walrus3 is sending me an updated RMS with neoprene seal so I don't have to install a new felt seal (really generous of George, thank you).
Thanks for the heads up on the throttle linkage. But what about the small heater hoses? They don't look like they will 'stretch' very far. I installed new engine mounts (HD) and the oil pan looks like it is only 1 inch above the cross member, so the engine should only go down 1 inch in the rear.
Regarding the clutch: I assumed that CA had the clutch replaced while she had it. It does grab good and the throwout bearing feels smooth under foot. Besides, a new plate costs a lot of money.
All of this effort to cure a small oil leak!!! It was cheaper for CA to add a quart of oil every 2K miles and let the drops soak into the asphault parking lot.
