A quart every 2k miles???? Are you serious?
You obviously never owned a Jaguar.
I absolutely would not even think embarking on this project over a quart every 2000 miles. I might start thinking about it at a quart every 500 miles. And even then, I'd be hesitant.
Were I you, I'd put the project on hold. Save up some scratch so that when you do pull the tranny, you can do it right, which is to say, wait until you either need, and/or can afford to do a clutch kit.
Problems that exist... you might do more damage than you are fixing. Removing the flywheel.. or rather... replacing it, is something you absolutely must do right. DItto the clutch. Ditto U-joints. all of these things can be disastrous if you make a mistake.
Not to mention the aforementioned oil pan gasket (the RMS housing shares the rearmost part of the oil pan gasket, and if you tear that gasket, it may well leak worse than your seal). And, that rear main seal should be properly aligned and centered. Not easy from under the car, and with the oil pan in place.
Yea.. I would not do it unless you really have a better reason to dig in there...
Instead, take the time and money you were going to spend and take a nice 250 mile drive in the car. Likely cheaper, and a more fun use of your time!
