Clutch placing? 200 1985

I FINALLY got my RMS in...

now I'm doing the clutch. I have the flywheel on, and I was in the process of putting the clutch on...but I was confused by the instructions in the bentley. .

It seemed to imply the "larger" side of the clutch plate face away from the flywheel, and thus the part that sticks out faces towards the flywheel.

But when I put it on the flywheel, the parts that sticks out would hit the bolts that keep the flywheel on the engine.

Am I missreading the "larger" side of the clutch?

This picture shows the part I'm talking about. I took it as the smaller of the two sides (diameter wise)...but if I placed it facing out (towards the back of the car), it would make so much more sense.

Does that part of the clutch face the back of the engine?
