Now that my 1967 122S 4dr. is in the body shop, I am trying to decide on the bumper issue. What years did the the bumper overriders, (Yankee bar, towel bar)come standard on a 122 or was this a dealer installed option ?
In any case, price is still an issue.
For re-chroming my banged up bumpers, I received a quote of $2,200.00 plus shipping back and forth and the installation kits, new bumpers are between $1459.00 and $1943.00
http://cvi-automotive.se are $1,459.61 plus shipping.
http://www.swedishtreasures.com are $1,943.10 plus shipping.
On the other hand, stainless steel bumpers seem to be the way to go. But the price differs a lot, between $770.00 and $1330.00 for the same front and rear bumper kit.
I contacted http://www.sgbumperscar.com direct for a price quote, but they referred me to their U.S.Distributor; http://vwrestorations.com, who quoted $1,160.00 shipping included.
http://mrfiat.com is selling the bumpers on ebay for $1,330.00 shipping included.
The Harrington Group out of the Bath,U.K. is selling the SS bumpers on ebay for $1,004.00 including shipping.
www.oldieglanz.de out of Hamburg Germany quoted a price of $900.00 including shipping.
http://www.skandix.de also sells the SS bumpers for $1,032.00 including shipping.
http://www.scandcar.com also sell the SS bumpers for $770.00 including shipping
The best price seems to be from scandcar, but I will try to see if any of the U.S. suppliers will match these prices. Wish me luck. Thanks
