Bad Shudder/Shaking Only on Braking 900 1993

OK, got another problem, well, more correctly I only fixed part of the problem, arrghhh.

I just finished up with a u-joint and center bearing job on my 93 940NA wagon. Great, right? Well not exactly. The deafening growl/howl for the center bearing is gone, but the bad shudder/clunking on braking that I thought was a u-joint is not gone.

While cruising on local streets or highway everything is good and quiet, but when you brake, she starts to shudder clunk and shake. On anything above gentle stopping the wagon shudders and shakes badly, maybe almost violently if you need to brake hard, this ain't warped brake rotors.

It doesn't seem like a wheel bearing, as they usually howl, right? Could it be a shot pinion bearing? I would guess that a shot bearing would make noise all the time, not just on braking. This leaves shot rear suspension bushings. Does this make sense to you guys? Could worn rear bushings make a really bad shake/shudder on braking? And if so, which ones are the usual offenders? Any input appreciated, thanks in advance.

Mike
