Auto Conversion - M46 or M47? 200

I'm planning to convert a '93 240 with an automatic transmission to stick shift. I have an M46 w/OD from an'82 sedan or an M47 from a '90 wagon to use. The M46 came from a car with about 110 Kmi. and I have the driveshaft and final drive R&P, if needed. The M47 drivetrain is still a great running car with about 240 Kmi. on it - if the car were not so gnarly, it would be staying there.

Does anyone have any input as to why one trans is more desirable than the other?

Thanks, one and all,
Rich
