1990 240 Engine off - Oil Pressure Light On 200 1990

I have a 1990 240 wagon (gas engine) and just recently the oil pressure idiot light comes on when I have the engine turned off and the key out of the ignition. No other idiot lights illuminate, just the oil pressure light. I can walk away for hours and when I return, the oil pressure idiot light remains on.

If I restart the engine and then turn the engine off again, the oil light might stay on, or it might go off. The oil pressure light fickers as the engine dies out (the engine is not dieseling)and it either stays on or not.
Oil light is not on at all when engine is started, either while idling or while traveling. I understand that the oil pressure is low when the engine is off, but why is the light illuminating (sometimes)?

Your thoughts are most appreciated.

Regards,

POG
