Sorry to say my Brick is gone. But happy to report that its driver, my teen aged daughter, is fine. The car met its maker at a rural road in Central New Jersey. Intersection accident. The cause is unclear as there is some confusing construction at that intersection and my daughter lost conciousness and cannot remember everything that happened. Police report is pending. No citation issued. I just thank God she's okay. Apparantly a van struck it in the front left, spun the car around, then apparantly went side-to-side with the Brick long enough to strike the Brick in the back end with its back end. That's a guess. In any case, the crash destroyed the front left suspension, front left fender, the entire front end is done, windshield, bumper smashed. Also the left strut tower is sticking straight up into the sky. The rear is smashed as well. I have a picture but don't know how to download on the site.
Had it been a lighter car, less sturdy car, I don't like to think about what would've happened.
For young drivers, these are among the best cars you can get. I'm grateful the Lord put my daughter in one.
Preliminary plan is to get another one and pirate what I can out of this one -- once I get over the shock. It's quite a shock. The body shop guys who towed the car from the scene of the accident couldn't believe that my daughter was not in the hospital. A word to the wise though: I'm not sure how much of a side hit the Volvo can take. I've read on this site that a Volvo cannot take a T bone hit. But still, I'll take it over every other older car on the road.
Hope this helps someone.
Best,
Cuddy
