89 740 GLE electrical drain 700 1989

I have found a few similar posts, but haven't yet been steered quite right.

For a month or so the car has been suggesting electrical trouble. While driving the dash lights would occasionally glow, but would go away on their own, or with a little pulse of the accelerator.

After a few weeks of this, I was driving the car and it began to really display some electrical issue-- the radio was fuzzing out with any extra load (turn signal, brake lights). After parking for a few hours, it was drained and wouldn't start. Jumping it would start it, but it wouldn't stay running.

I had the alternator and battery tested at the auto parts store, but both tested ok. The napa guy suggested a ground issue, and some of the other posts online have suggested voltage regulator, brushes, etc etc etc.

Any thoughts on where to focus?
Thanks!
