which direction should distributor rotate? 200 1989

Just bought a 1989 wagon, B230F engine. Got it for $250 since it doesn't run. PO couldn't really tell me anything for sure; I'm not even sure that he meant it suddenly didn't start one day and never started again. His kids/friends were messing with it trying to get it running, so who knows what they did... Could they have somehow reversed the direction of distributor rotation.

The distributor rotates clockwise. Bentley says it should rotate counter-clockwise. Dealership says it should rotate clockwise. Anybody have a running '89 B230F engine that could tell me which way the distributor shaft is rotating?

thanks
Joy
