accidently drove into HUGE puddle, now no start 700 1988

well, i saw it, tried to change lanes (on the highway) but was surrounded by cars, slammed on the brakes, but it was too late. what's worse, is that it turns out i have a small hole in the floorpan by the passenger side kick panel. well guess what's behind the passenger side kickpanel, but the damn ecu. so, what's interesting is that it as i hit the puddle, i shut the car off. i was able to restart it (and i was sooooo happy) and made it off the highway, and then it died.

now i pulled the kickpanel off, and found the ecu/connectors to be soaked. i tried to dry them off and start it again, but nothing. when it died just off the highway, it restarted for a few seconds, then died when i touched the gas, which makes me think it's a fuel issue (kind of the same feeling when you're out of gas).

i was going to check for fuel pressure tomorrow, but does anyone have any other ideas of things to check around the passenger side kick panel that might have been affected?

i also checked the fuses, but nothing was blown.

1988 740

thanks
