I'm posting this as a 200 item because it is the same heater as used in the early 240/260 cars.
I got the heater out of the Yellow Peril and removed the fan motor and found that,
as I expected, the bearings were seized up and one of the plastic brush holders was melted.
(Also the vacuum-operated heater valve was rusted out but I have dealt with that problem, I think.)
I dragged the heater from a 1976 264 out of my attic and tore it down and found it in very much
the same shape, seized bearings and one melted brush holder. That's 2 for 2 or 100%
although it was the OTHER brush on that one. But they are identical.
Using PB'laster and choke cleaner I got the bearings freed up and lubed and cannibalized
the good brush from the 73 motor and put it in the 76 motor and put it back together.
I clamped the motor in the vise and hooked the black wire to the battery charger negative.
I could only get it to run hooking either the brown or the white wire to the positive, in both cases pretty fast.
Can anyone furnish me a pinout for the yellow, green and red wires? I have gotten to a point where
I don't understand all I know. I suspect that the black wire is not the only one that can be hooked
to -12V but would like to know how to test the rest of the speeds before installing the motor.
