Hello
I have a 1990 240 DL over 200k no biggie for a volvo..
Starting about 8 months ago It all at once started having performance Issues. If at idle you hit the gas the throttle is slow to respond some times it does it sometimes it doesn't. When driving down the road highway or city street speeds It seems to do the same. Its like some one is using a switch to change the performance. When the performance is bad I have to downshift it to 3rd to pass a semi from 45-pass this is scarry on the freeway!!!!! But when performance is fine I can do the pass in 5th. Last November I had to take it to get emmissions wouldn't pass. I have had the car to a shop they checked the car with the "smoke" for vacume leaks I fixed the ones found. I swapped out the air mass meter as recomended by the shop. The car passed by one number!!! But the performance problem is still here and I suspect the performance and emmissions failure are the same issue. Please help.
This is a B23 no turbo M47 tranny.
