replacing driver's window 900 1994

I've removed the door panel and am ready to put the replacement pane in. Do I start by slidinging the pane down the doors' track/seating and then trying to work in the lifter-arms (that have the clips attached)to the bottom track? Or do I attach the lifter-arm clips to their bottom tracks and then try to maneuver the glass into the doors' tracking?
Both methods seem to leave the secondary seating to be almost impossible.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
dave
