anyone know how to do tests with a scope?

hey,

was just wondering if anyone could walk me through as to how to use an oscilloscope to perform diagnostics on my 1986 740. i picked up actually 3 scopes(1 telequipment hybrid a lab volt and a hickok) in a lot with a bunch of other equipment(incl a VTVM to test my old adios yea:)) for 40 bucks from this one lady.
fact remains is i do not know the first thing on using a scope. since ive never before owned one i never studied.

i know i can get books and take courses but hopefully someone on here can give me a list of settings and tests i can do to make sure every sensor and component on my 740 is within specs.
