AW 70 Auto Trany not engaging 200

Parking the 88 240 with 200K miles plus on a small incline occurs half the time and I always engage the e-brake before shifting into park. After starting and with foot on brake I released the e-brake and shifted into drive the trany did not engage in any gear. I thought the E ring came off the shiter linkage below, but that was all as it should be upon jacking the car up and inspecting. While under the car I was able to move the shifter linkage back and forth after relaesing it out of park. I lowered the car and then all was well with no further problem. The fluid level is OK. Could this be the valve body sticking or an indent ball hanging up? Thanks , Keith
