Position for overdrive lamp 120-130

I have finally got round to installing an original overdrive stalk switch (to replace a pull switch that I fitted in the cigarette lighter position in the dash).

I have taken an overdrive lamp from a spare dash and want to fit it as well but I need to know where it should go. The dash I took it out of is right hand drive and it was located above and between the lights and wipers switches (which are on the extreme right of the dash). The lamp location is centered 35mm from the center of the wiper switch and 44mm from the center of the lights switch (measured on an angle - shortest distance between center points of the three holes).

This seems a bit odd to me, I would have thought the lamp should go closest to the gearstick, rather than closest to the door.

My car is left hand drive. I think the lamp belongs between the cigarette lighter and the fan switch - slightly closer to the fan switch. Can anyone confirm - perhaps with a photo and dimensions? I have scanned through all my magazines and books but can't find a good photo that shows it.

The image library is not working for me at the moment - I assume I have an original OD lamp - can anyone confirm from the photo on my wiki:
