81 240 wagon, fixit or scrapit? 200 1981

Bought a 81 245 sight unseen, based on sweet little Heidi from Sweden description. Shipped it to Tn. Drive line shot. Looks like it needs new bearings in rear, new differential, driveshaft ujoints and center bearing and balanced, new clutch and there's concern about a vibration that may be in the tranny. Body very nice except for poor repair of a rust problem in windshield, interior nice except for driver's seat. 275000 miles. Needs new bushings everywhere and new tires too.
What to do? I'm 72, not able to do a lot of work myself anymore and have about $3000 to spend. I may just call this an old man's folly.
Advice?
