Bosch Main Fuel Pump wiring question 200 1989

Howdy folks,

Just had a new Bosch main fuel pump delivered from FCP. My dead, old fuel pump was an aftermarket brand and it looks like the PO had spliced on ring terminals to slide over the positive and negative posts which were threaded and had tiny little nuts to hold them down.

The Bosch has smooth, unthreaded posts surrounded by a black and yellow plastic tube. My question is, should I snip off those old ring terminals on my wiring and soldier on new bullet connectors to slide over these posts on the Bosch? Also, should I then just use electrical tape to seal up water from entering the connections?

thanks,
jason
