How to shield a volvo from an EMP?

It is possible, indeed somewhat likely that the US will suffer from an EMP
(electro magnetic pulse). This senario was described in the book
http://www.onesecondafter.com/. America was catapaulted instantly back to about 1850.

Here's my question: How can I shield my 940 volvo against the microprocessor killing pulse this attack would produce? The '92 volvo isn't nearly as electronically complicated as newer cars but it is reliant on an ECU and many
electronic relays.

How can I build a faraday shield for this vehicle?

Could it be small enough to shield individual components or would it have to be the size of a garage?

After such an attack, transportation might be the difference (quickly) between life and death.

My question is sincere, please don't flame me.
