need air conditioning info 900

93 940T. I am putting in a 'new' condenser due to holes from rubbing a piece of sheet metal beside the headlight/foglight. Those who have this may want to look at that btw, it's a sort of support piece on each side with an edge that is only a small distance from the tubes of the condenser.

1. I thought I'd go about getting a variable orifice valve so have been calling around and looking online. I can find almost no one who knows about these, and one place that seemed to refer to it in their catalog wanted $36 for the 'normal' one and over $50 for the extreme one, pay in advance, wait 2 weeks, no returns. I see in the FAQ that most say it should cost about $3. So, ???

2. Next, the FAQ chart indicates about 1/2 pt oil in the original system more or less depending on brand of compressor. So if I vacuum the system I'll pull out most or all of the oil in there now, so need to replace it. Without going to Volvo for oil, what kind of oil? This was originally R134, not a swap from R12 so ester may not be correct.

General info, I am putting in a condenser from a 960, which is the same as the nonT 940. The interchange says it's not right, but I believe the only difference is an offset to clear the air intake on the nonTurbo, so I think this is a valid interchange. Maybe that'll help someone.
