M47 clutch problems 200

My 87 is having problems with the clutch slipping at speed. I was on the highway today and in fifth at 65 mph, I hit the gas hard and the engine revved above 3K, then caught as the car sped up. There is also slight slippage in other gears as I upshift. I'm thinking that I have a small leak either in the trans or the rear main seal and the lubricant is getting on the clutch. Which is more likely? Could it be something else? Will the clutch have to be replaced because of the contamination? It only has about 50K on it.
