Rear Windshield Wiper Motor 200 1988

Hi, I am trying to determine what this part is? (link attached should display picture)

I have reason to believe that it is the rear windshield wiper motor and bracket for my 245 but can't figure out how to install it. (if that's even what it is)
It's definitely a motor and it does work. When connected to the battery though it continually spins around and around... shouldn't it only spin in one direction and then the other? I tried fudging around with it in the tailgate but I just can't put the whole thing together on my own.

The Volvo part number stamped on the motor is: 1312443
