Driver door hard to open

Today I tried something different. I usually grab the driver's door handle from above with my left hand, squeezing the "trigger". Most of the time the door will not unlatch and I have to make a couple of attempts. Squeezing the trigger just a little or all the way makes no difference. This time I grabbed the handle underhand and the door opened immediately without sticking at all. I tried this several times, overhand and underhand and it opened every time underhand without fail. I notice that the trigger has a bit of up and down play, so I suspect it contacts the linkage inside differently when pulled from above or from below. (The rear passenger side door also has some up and down play in the trigger, but works fine either way and the other two doors have almost no play.) Anyway, I now have a workaround for the problem.
