A/C Catastrophic Failure!!! It's summer!!! 200 1984

Hey everybody, the comp. failed big time last week when I loaned my car to my son...no other damage except a frozen clutch with melted belt, luckily! I want to convert to newer style rotary unit and have sourced the brackets, p.steering stuff locally. My questions are, should I use a used compressor, or go with a new one from FCP? I will for sure change rec/dyer and expansion valve and probably have new hoses made using the old ends for proper configurations. What about flushing evap and condenser? (I'm a shadtree mechanic). Should I use the ref. that John Sargent advises? What belt will fit the crank/compressor? Anybody please step in here.
