940 rocker panel rust 900 1994

Went to look at a 945 tonight and saw something I'm used to seeing on neglected 240's, but never on a 940: a rusty rocker panel. The drivers side had rust and bubbly paint all along the seam at the bottom, a 3" square patch of surface rust on the rear outside, and scattered signs of paint failure from hidden rust all along the panel. When I pulled out the access plug at the back of the rocker, the inside had moist debris and my finger came out rusty-red. The passenger side was immaculate, suggesting to me that the car was street-parked in winter and got a road spray salt bath for several winters. Not what I expect in Virginia, at least.

This was enough to make me advise he pass on the car. These are common enough vehicles that finding one that hasn't lived in New England shouldn't be a problem. Seller wanted nearly $2k--without the rust issues, this would have been a great car, it was mechanically quite nice.
