fuel delivery 200 1982

Have a 240 2-door, appr 300K miles. Last September I encountered a fuel delivery problem, car was kicking and bucking like no tomorrow. Replaced the fuel filter, no change. Replaced the distro cap, no change. Had a feller check out the distro, said there was a loose wire inside it, he changed it out, but no change. Just put in (yesterday) a new fuel level gauge and in-tank pump. Tried starting it, and the motor spun like a top, but no fire. Course it's bumping 100 around here these days, and I haven't had a chance to get at it today, but will in the morning. In the event it won't start in the morning, has anyone got any ideas what else could be amiss? Bummer, and the car has a good a/c, too. TIA
