fuel pump, new lines and filters 120-130

Hi All!! Replaced my fuel line this weekend pre and post fuel pump. Followed some advice and also put new fuel filters pre and post pump. It previously had no fuel filters at all. The filter prior to reaching the pump looks massive, but thats what the parts store had with 5/16ths nipples. It looks just as large or larger than the pump itself and am sure it could easily be fitted to a catapillar dozer! I guess it goes with my Autocraft Gold battery that looks like it could start a Carnival Cruise Liner! Any way I also secured all new hoses with new smooth hose clamps. Did have a small leak coming from metal hose coming out of pump but a little plumbers tape seemed to take care of it. Took the dome off the top and cleaned well. The brass screen looked clean but was hesitant about trying to remove it. should I try to remove and see if any debris is inside? Also while cleaning the screw and washer I damaged the washer a little. Is this washer fiber? it reminded me of a hard waxy material?? are these hard to find? auto parts or hardware store? Thanx! I love this site and check in regularly!!
