A/C starts with car 365 days, cannot be shut off 700 1990

I turned my old 740 over to my mother-in-law in Miami. I replaced the condensor (watch out- there was a little plastic air intake on one side of it that wore a hole in the condensor just through vibration ) the compressor and the evaporator (which was fine and didn't need it) . The system works but will not shut off ever. Anyone know about this? Thanks. The mother -in-law is actually complaining about how cold it gets in the car in Miami in July.
