89 ABS Testing 700 1989

Ive read through the FAQ on this, does anyone know the proper way to actually test the sensors with a volt meter and what i should be getting from them.

When i purchased the car the pass ABS sensor wires were cut due to oversized tires. i have since reattached them to one another. originally the ABS light would light evey time the car was turned on, now the ABS light only lights after braking. and it doesnt light every time, Per Say, if its driven less them 5 minutes chances are it wont light, aft 5 minutes it will come on. the Brakes are really wired before the light comes on, they pulsate/are hard to press, once the light comes on everything is normall. im going to be driving the car 2000 miles here in three weeks and would like to get the ABS operation before i leave. i know how to use a multimeter so id like to check the sensor's. last time i checked the brakes i cleaned all the metal off the sensors ( they were completly covered i would consider it excessive )
