'77 242, M45:can't get lower shifter pivot pin out. Help? 200

Lost reverse lock out shifter link some time ago and have been driving with the lock out bracket removed. OK for me maybe, but not good should anyone else drive my car, go for 1st gear and hit reverse. ( ! ) So I've got an ipd lock out repair kit arriving tomorrow and a complete spare shifter here as well.

Under car I got the 4mm allen set screw out. But the pivot pin won't slide out on it's own, or with, "pushing," from the side. Volvo green manual says to, "press," it out, but there's little room in there to get to the stinker.

Now I'm thinking I might have to drop the drive line front for some room and maybe build a little, "U," shape press from scratch. At 67 years old, I still work on my Volvo's, but crawling under this one 10-zillion times is taking it's toll on my back.

Anyone have this trouble and have any tips to scare that darned pin out?

Thanks for listening,
Dennis
