Just when I thought it was all over between us (the car and me), the insurance adjuster came back and DID lower their offer. From $1750 down to $302 after I paid my $500 deductable. WTF? I said, very politely mind you, just have the flat bed wrecker bring it back to my house and park it right where they found it. They said I'd have to pay to have it towed back and I protested on that too and they agreed to that too. So now I have to go to the boneyard and get a hood, DS front fender, front bumper skin, order 2 new headlights and turn signal lights, get the body parts painted (with the quart of paint the guy who painted my car last year gave me) then I should be good to go. So I guess I will get to that 500K high mileage badge in 24 months after all. I'll take pics and post everything when I all finished. I was sleeping like crap this past week. Now that I know my ride is coming back to me I should sleep good tonight.
