1993 Glovebox Removal - HOW? 200 1993

I've repaired enough 240 glove boxes broken at the hinges to wonder why The Volvo engineers didn't come up with a better design. Well, on the '93 I'm working on they did by running screws at each hinge vertically into the metal of the dash. Now, after spending way too long with an offset screwdriver I have to wonder why they made this improvement so hard to access.

Does anyone know if there is some why to pop the glovebox door supports (without breaking them, of course) in order to open the door fully so that there is a straight shot at these two screws?

Rich
