Clearing a Check Eng Light and a couple other questions 700 1992

1992 745 8v NA Regina 100,000+ ? miles

My thermostat stuck and I overheated the engine. CEL illuminated. Replaced the thermostat and all appears OK with the engine. Got 2-2-4 "Eng Temp Sensor" faulty" out of the OBD which makes sense when the temp swings too high. I cleared the 2-2-4 (only code displayed) but the CEL is still on.

Do I have to disconnect the battery? I don't want to lose my radio presets.

Will the CEL self-extinguish down the road if all is good?.

Having driven two 740's over 16 years, this is the first CEL I'm encountered.

Also, this car has anti-lock brakes and there is a second OBD box labelled "B" next to the familiar box which they labelled "A". Box "B" has only one socket with a contact inserted. I'm guessing this is for the anti-lock brakes?? There is no probe on box "B" to retrieve codes - is there a unique reader that needs to be used?

Thanks again.
