Battery or alternator? 200 1982

Anyone have an Optima battery in their 240? Which one do you have, is it the red top? I was looking at one a while back but can't remember which one it was I was looking at.

I noticed some corrosion on my battery terminals so over the weekend I cleaned it all off the terminals and wires. I put on some diaelectric grease, while I was at it I cleaned the fuse box and fuses and put some grease in there as well. later on that day I was driving around and the battery light came on and the volt meter was at 0, withing a block the car died. I turned the key off and tried to restart the car and nothing, second time it fired right up and the volt meter was nice and high around 13-14v.

The rest of the day the car was normal, like it has been for the past year and a half I've had it. Today I checked the voltage reg and brushes, looks good. Still has at least 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch left on the brushes, there was a bit of new corrosion on the + terminal. on the volt metter the battery was 12 and change with the car off and 14.10v running.

Am I looking at the battery or the alternator, the battery doesn't look new. So I figured I'd start there, probably could use a new one regardless of the problem.
