Overdrive Won't Kick In 200 1988

Hello all,

My overdrive doesn’t kick in, except for once in awhile (and when it does it usually works for the whole trip). It’s not the relay. I bought the blanking plate from IPD, but one of the solenoid bolts is frozen, so I can’t install it.

I took it to a mechanic, and he said that if the bolt breaks, I’d need to replace the transmission. That sounds drastic to me. If I’d have to replace it anyway, would it make sense to just tack-weld the blanking plate on and see if it works?

Thanks!
