Smoke upon start up. 200 1990

When I recently started the car I noticed a small but definite puff of blue (oil) smoke. The car had been sitting all day but was driven for about 30 miles at moderate speeds about 7 hours earlier in the day.
I changed the oil and plugs about 1k miles ago.
The 200dl automatic has about 170k miles on it.
There are no other symptoms. It could be running a little rough, but that's probably unrelated.
What are some common causes for this problem? Fixes?
Thanks.
