overheating 91 740 non-turbo 700

I just had my fuel pump & fuel pump relay replaced yesterday. 1st drive out of shop car got extremely hot. Could the mechanic left something unpluged in dash when replacing relay? The car gets real hot real fast.............to the point of steam coming out of my defroster vents. Even after complete cool down at home, car will still not go 5 miles w/o overeheating. No water in oil. Fan clutch? Thermostat? head gasket?? I am going to pull thermostat in the morning & ck that 1st. Gotta work overtime today. Im not much of a mechanic, & ANY advice here would be appreciated. Thanks!
Steve Davis
