"Is there a relay or fuse that I should look at?"

Yes, the "Main" light relay on he relay rack. The pic below from the 700/900 FAC forum is not correct for the '93 940, but the relay is 2nd from Left in the front row where the pic shows the central locking relay.



The Volvo 1324749-9 is actually the Bosch # 0-332-015-006. Bosch relays 0-332-015-012 or -013 will also work.
