Beware Damn heater control valve!

I do my normal 20 mile run to work. I stop at Dunkin Dognuts and while in line I see a mist of coolant coming from below the car. I finish drive to work and look under hood to see the frickin Heater valve upper tube has snapped off! Temp guage had just hit the red zone. I replaced the damn thing no more than 35,000 miles ago! Cheap plastic crap! MTC I believe. I just got one from advanced auto and replaced in parking lot. Refilled w/coolant and will give it a go in a bit. Hope I didnt ruin the HG or warp the head!
