1990-240 securing exciter wire to alternator

Take the nut off alternator exciter terminal stud, and remove the male slide fitting. Remove the female slide fitting from the wire end, and replace it with a ring fitting. Crimp the ring fitting to the wire end and allow some wire beyond the crimped area for soldering. Solder good the wire to the ring fitting, being careful not to allow solder to block the ring. Install ring fitting over stud on alternator, fasten with the nut. Makes a good solid connection. No more discharged battery on the freeway.
someone else may have a better way, but this works, if done right.
