Temp gauge and speedometer 200 1992

My temp gauge has stopped working. I pulled a gauge from another instrument cluster and tried it. No good. I did the test from the Bentley manual on both and the gauges did not register. Should I just assume that both gauges are bad. I would like to do a continuity test from the sending unit to the dashboard. How can I go about it?

Also. my speedometer has stopped operating. I checked the sending unit on the rear end and found 0 ohms. Do those sending units go bad after while?

One last thing, The overdrive has been intermittent for about a year. I flushed the transmission according to Bentley, but no results. Months ago I diagnosed the wiring as far as the solenoid, and everything checked out.

Thanks for any help you can offer.
