I'm in a bit of a bind. I've moved on to other interests and it's time to retire my old '88 but quite honestly it's worth more as parts than as a driver. The winters up here have not been kind to the paint and it needs a few mechanical details that I just can't find the energy or interest to fix.
Trouble is it's been so good to me for so many years (1997-2010) the thought of parting it out or anyone else doing it just sickens me. It's got lots of life left (only 20x,xxx miles) and it's optioned beyond the norm to say the least.
Quick list,
IPD bars (25/25)
Cherry turbo cross brace Volvo GT strut braces,
electric fan from 940, underhood insulation
Eibach progressive springs/Bilstein HD shocks,
VX cam, 2.5" exhaust,
Cibie/Volvo E-Codes (brand new when put on 6 months ago)
Unique cupholder armrest re-covered to match gray interior,
Black headliner (hated the white)
Full gauge package (oil temp, air temp, volt, oil pressure, small tach)
R-Sport steering wheel.
Rear decor panel (cracked at top) trunk lid lined with carpet.
New all season 195/65/15 tires on turbo wheels, spare is on a turbo wheel also.
New Volvo seat foam in original bag/box (not installed)
Interior is in good shape, dash was uncracked 'till last winter now has a crack :-( no tears in seats.
Had complete brake replacement 4 years ago, all new rotors/calipers etc, new junction block last year.
The bad
Paint looks good from 20 feet if you're blind and your seeing eye dog is looking the other way.
Needs center bearing rubber and tailshaft bushing.
I'm torn between looking for a good home or just sticking it into the garage until these things become collectors items which may take forever as there were so many of them made.
What would you do?
