1987 A/C fan motor 200 1987

Hello folks, Looking for some help. On my '87 240 DL the A/C is just not cutting it! My volvo guys replaced the fan motor a few years ago. It has been converted to the new system also, but it only seems to blow warm to hot air. He say"its a 240 thing" and I can't do anything about it. I'm not looking for it to be ice cold, but my 91'240 blows what I consider to be cool/colder air. Are we just over looking something? How often do you need to put more freon in these things? Can I or do they make a cooler motor or something since we live in NC and it is and will get hotter this year. Any help would be great. I just hate to park it and dirve the '91 due to this small reason. Please help.
