Volvo 240 ECU, easy to replace? 200 1990

Hey guys, My 240 DL stalled me a few times in the heat and when I let it sit a few hours, it would finally work again. It felt like it was running out of gas. A few trips to the shop and each time, they had no idea why it was giving me trouble. Finally last week it stopped for good. I checked the fuel pump relay to see if it was clicking and pulled the mass air flow sensor to see if that would make it start. Both did not work. I took it to the mechanic again and they gave up on it.

I had it towed to another place in town that could deal with volvos better. After charging me 100 bucks they said it was corrosion behind the fuse box and sent me on my way after cleaning it out. I drove it two more times before it stranded me 30 miles from home. Terrible mess. I had it towed back to them and they called me today. They said they took the computer off another 240 to see if that was the problem and it went into my car and started right up. They offered to find me a used one for 250. Looking on ebay, I know I can find one in good shape for 100. I don't have much experience with working on cars, but should this be easy enough to put in myself? I'd like to avoid the 100 dollars they will charge me to install it. I do own the Hayes manual but it's mostly all a learning process for me.

On a separate note, they are also telling me I am leaking gas out of the top of the fuel pump. They offered to take it apart and fix the leak for another hour labor. Does this sound fishy to anyone?

The shop is Automotion in Carborro NC.

Thank you guys for your help.
