Have you considered using synthetic oil? .... 200 1983

I have been using synthetic oil for decades (literally!) on many cars ('73 and '75 164s, and '78, '80, '83 and currently '84 and two '93s) and I just don't see sludge anywhere. Yes, I've got good vacuum pull (measured with the jiggled cap on the '84 and cellophane method on the '93s), and the flame traps and their hoses (blow-through test) stay clean; the throttle bodies never have sludge; nor the air ducts. I do change my synthetic oil (and filter) every 6,000 miles), but I believe that it's the oil that does the trick!

And it's not just my case. Many on this forum have also reported their flame traps and throttle bodies never needing a cleaning when using synthetic oil.
