Timing on 242 with B23FT 200 1983

Yup, and as best I can tell, it's in there good - thanks for the idea :)

I've found the marks on the distributor, and have got the car to where it'll sputter and ALLLLMOST start, but it stalls after about 1-2 seconds, sputtering the whole time. Turning the distributor slightly doesn't seem to help, either.

I can't see any obvious vacuum leaks, and I've changed out a couple wires and connections that looked pretty shoddy. Right now I've pulled the Jetronic modules from near the coil, and the two by the passengers' footwell, just on spec, and at a glance, the circuit boards look okay - no scortch marks, and I can't see any componentry that's blown.

Any other ideas from anybody? Thanks again,
