Is there life after 940? 900

I'm starting to consider life after the 940, and wondering what the community's thoughts and experiences are.

My 944 has 310k miles and has every sign of going twice that distance, so I won't be doing anything soon. But eventually I'll probably need to upgrade. The appeal of the 940 series include: car is well designed and built; parts are plentiful and cheap; engine is bulletproof; and it's easy to work on. All of this in stark contrast to my late 960.

So when / if I trade, is there an upgrade path that will give me the same experience I have with the 940, or will I be getting into something more akin to the 960, which was frustrating and expensive?

I don't know much about any of the Volvos post 960, except the V70, which I suspect would be just as frustrating as my 960.

Thoughts? Experiences? Recommendations?
